Can I audition for more than one major?
Students may only audition for one major. If they don’t make it, we encourage them to apply the following academic year.
If we live on the Georgia line next to Tennessee, can my student attend CCA?
Unless you reside in Hamilton County, you would have to pay tuition to attend any Hamilton County School. If your student makes it through the audition and is accepted, we can connect you with someone at our district office to get you information about the tuition. There is a higher charge for a student that is out of state than within the state and out of the county.

CCA is a public magnet arts school within Hamilton County Schools. This school is free of cost to students that reside in Hamilton County Schools. If your student does not live in Hamilton County, but makes it through the audition process and is accepted, we can connect you with someone at our district office to get you information about the tuition. There is a higher charge for a student that is out of state than within the state and out of the county.

I really like this website. It’s so much easier than trying to read the pamphlet on line. I also appreciate that you answer parent questions on here. I have a question about the resumes. I have already filled out the application. When should I send my child’s resume in and should we also bring a copy with us for the audition? Will the auditions be in person this year? Thanks!

Thank you so much for the feedback. Please bring 3 copies of the resume that includes the headshot to the audition when that is scheduled. There’s no need to email it, but you may email it to to the designated person listed under the major if you’d like. Yes, the auditions will be in person. You will be hearing from our Dean of Fine Arts, Vincent Hale, closer to the audition dates in December and January.

An essay was mentioned in the zoom meeting that my child and I attended. What is the topic for the essay? I seemed to find all other information on the website but the essay.

It is likely this part of the application. Demonstrate creativity and writing skills in a timed writing exercise based on a given prompt. For example, “As soon as the aliens landed, they…” or “The big day was finally here, and now this? What a disaster….”. We do not give the prompt before the audition.

Scholarships are not available. The funds do not go to the school – they go to Hamilton County Schools and they set the fee.

We are a public magnet school for Hamilton County Schools and do not have tuition for students that reside within Hamilton County Schools in Tennessee. If your student lives outside of the county and the state, please email me and I can communicate with our district to determine fees for students living outside of the county. My daughter has an audition coming up. She will be entering 6th grade and wants to sing. She does not have a resume, headshot or a portfolio. What should I do. I don’t want to mess this up.

A sample resume template can be found in each of our major sections. I encourage your daughter to use this or any sample template online that can highlight who she is. For the headshot, this is just a simple photo you can take of her using her phone and place it on the resume. Some people print the photo. It does not need to be done by a professional – we just ask we can see the student’s face clearly. Please refer to the requirements in the major for the portfolio – I am wondering if this is for visual art, which is requested.

Hello,
That is ok if there is no acting experience to add to the resume. Academic achievements, artistic endeavors, the purpose for the major and more can be on the resume.
